SEED-O-MATIC, the world’s slowest vending machine, dispenses heirloom seeds and small bags of soil.
SEED-O-MATIC
VENDING AT THE SPEED OF LIFE
www.seedomatic.com
SEED-O-MATIC is a vending machine that dispenses seeds and small bags of soil: Simply put in your change, turn a crank, and you are ready to get your hands dirty.
Each SEED-O-MATIC packet contains enough seeds to grow a small row of vegetables in your kitchen or bucket garden.
The seed varieties have been kindly supplied by seed savers from Portland, OR and around the Cascadian region. Information about each seed is contained on the packets and in short videos on the SEED-O-MATIC website.
ABOUT
SEED-O-MATIC was created during the Spring 2013 semester by Emma Conley and Halley Roberts, students from the MFA in Collaborative Design at PNCA. They completed the project in the Disruptive Design studio course led by the Center for Genomic Gastronomy.
The goal of this project was to invert the speed and efficiency that is expected of vending machines. The SEED-O-MATIC vending machine serves healthy food, encourages agricultural biodiversity and serves maximally inconvenient snacks.
HOW TO BOOK?
The SEED-O-MATIC vending machine is mobile and doesn’t require electricity. If you are interested in booking the machine for your next event in Portland, Oregon please get in touch: info@seedomatic.com
